Galileo-EGNOS Prize Award Scheme (GEPAS)
The Galileo-EGNOS Prize Award Scheme (GEPAS) supported the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) between 2011 and 2015. The project funded by the European Commission built on the existing and established infrastructure of the European Satellite Navigation Competition. 19 beneficiaries have been part of the consortium that has been coordinated by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). Through GEPAS it was possible to realise three big aims within the ESNC - namely to foster the establishment of Europe's largest support mechanism for GNSS entrepreneurs, to push the commercialisation of GNSS applications and to unite Europe in space. As part of the current Galileo Action Plan of the European Commission it fostered the creation of new businesses and jobs in Europe in the downstream space market. Through the support the ESNC made an impressive development in the past four years and turned from an ideas competition into an innovation network that highly contributes to foster the growth of the economy based on the European flagship programmes Galileo & EGNOS. more
